Something different about my bike?!

@Buggy Nate - Removing all ego out of the equation I guess I'd consider myself as reasonably handy with a spanner.  My most recent mechanical jobs on the bike was to fit a slipper clutch kit, rear shock, brake bleed, new sintered pads for front brakes - Nothing startling but FWIW.  I'm the sort of person who investigates a job to the 'n'th degree before attempting it as long as I have the tools to do it and of course feel confident that I'm capable.  On that score (tools) I've got a 'reasonable' arsenal.  Thanks for your advice.

Also, a neighbour is a retired race engine builder & racer (cars) and knows his vehicle engines inside out so I'm confident he would assist if/when necessary.  BTW right now he's putting the finishing touches on his 1963 - (I think) silver Corvette Stingray.  Very nice.  Steering wheel is on the 'wrong' side though! 😉

A bit off topic but here's some car porn for your enjoyment....

By all accounts you sound like you will be all over it. Main thing is make sure you have the manual as the CP3 is a tad quirky with some of the finer details.

That is a sexy bit of kit isn’t it??!! There was a car show locally that had a heap of corvettes. There is something special about them. And yes big pity about the steering wheel! 🤣

Thanks again Nate and yes I do have the manual.

The Corvette - He's polished it up and tuned the engine since those photos were taken.  He is a genuine wizard when it comes to engines.  Just a touch on the key and it fires up immediately.  Beautiful sound.  I've been promised a spin in it so something to look forward to! 🙂

That Chevy Corvette is dead sexy, innit - but I'm seeing Ford Mustangs on the road by the dozen these day (current model I'm talking about).   They look pretty cool, but the Corvette leaves it for dead, IMHO.

just as an observation, that is not a '63 Corvette...

the '63's were split rear-window, and only one year....

VERY nice looking ride tho....

I had that same observation.  But it’s a fuelie motor, so has to be a ‘64 or ‘65.   Beautiful car...  hard to find complete & original anymore.

on the subject of Synching Throttle Bodies..... :

you all probably know this but....make SURE you synch the manometer FIRST...before you synch the throttle bodies.....

just hook all hoses up to the MASTER throttle body and balance them evenly with the adjustments on the Manometer.....THEN hook up to the Throttle bodies and synch them.....

Yes I wasn't sure what year it was in my original post but will ask the man himself when I see him next.  I know he bought it from a man in the U.S. who's wife had owned it but had passed away.  He wanted someone to buy it but only if they were going to keep it original.  Apparently there were plenty who wanted to chop it up and modify it.  It still has her name written inside the speedo.  Obviously a very sentimental attachment to the machine for the husband.

@BugsInTeeth , @texscottyd -  Just as a follow up. Spoke to the man himself and it's a '64 model.  You guys were all over it!  Obviously 'Tappet Heads' from way back! 😎

"Tappet Heads" ? ....well, yeah probably  LOLOL....the '63 is particularly unique because it's the

ONLY year of the Split rear window....also makes it the most expensive Stingray......

back in the day, I had a '63 Impala SS just like the BeachBoys Song "409"  ...

4-speed, Dual-Quad, Positraction 409....had the 425 hp solid lifter cam engine and came from the

factory with 4.56 rear gears.....ran over 101 mph in the quarter in 1965 on STREET  tires....

no power steering, no power brakes  white with black bucket seat interior.... it was a  BEAST  !

traded it in on a volkswagen ...   * SIGH *....

Didn't a lot of people cut the split out of the rear window? Then seriously regret it 30 years later....
