2015 with 10k miles for $8k?

Recommended Posts

What do you guys think about buying this one used in Washington state? They're quoting me $7k and $8k out the door. They also have an extended warranty they're offering me. Have yet to test ride what should I look out for?

Used bikes prices are through the roof right now...there is no new inventory and its driving used prices way up.  Not much you can do about it right now.  If it's in really good shape I would offer 7K OTD max.  That bike is 6 years old and was like 8500 new, lol

Is it stock except the beak? Any luggage? Go look in the Bikes for Sale section in this site. I'd guess $5500 - $6000 + TTL, so what @CRFan250 is saying.

And if it had OE tires, they should replace them with decent new ones as part of the deal.  That's definitely a Dunlop Sportmax on the bike. Could be a D222.

I paid considerably less than that in CAD for a used 2015 in March of 2019 and it had 11,000 kms on the odo with brand new Conti tires.  No extended warranty, though.

But, as @CRFan250 points out, used bikes are just nuts right now.  I can't seem to find a CRF250L for a reasonable price.  Everyone is asking ~5k, and yet the base CRF300 is due out any day now for 6500.  Doesn't make much sense - it's gotta be Covid driving the prices up; everyone sick of being stuck at home.  Powersports seems like a quick and easy way to get outside for some fun.

Way too high.  I bought my 2016 FJ w only 3,300 miles on it three years ago for $7,300.

I suppose in the era of Covid, like houses,  it's worth what some fool will pay for it.  But with the mileage and price quoted it's a poor value IMHO.

Look for an owner sale if possible.

I agree with the above posters.  Typically I would say about 1500 too high but the market is demanding more money right now.  I recently bought a 2019 tracer and paid more than I typically would have during prior years (pre market spoke). But I was also not going to do without just to save a few dollars.   Buy it if it’s what you want and write it off as the cost of doing business would be my vote.   However I would also think the 7000 would be total investment after taxes.  Maybe you can talk them into a set of OEM side cases at that price?

Buddy here in Ontario just got 2017 with 14000 km ( over 8000miles) on it in spotless condition and new tires for $7000 CAN. To me $6000 is a top for 2015.

New tires, Fresh oil and the price is reduced by $500. They have had it over 30 days so I think you can get them down some more.

The passenger grab rails are missing so ask for a discount for that.

I know it's a totally different market than 2017 when I got my '15 for $7k.  I got it from the original owner, and it came nicely farkled, with panniers, tank bag, 2 wind screens, ECU flash, cruise control, bar risers, FJR pegs, bar end weights, and other stuff I can't remember. Mileage was about 10k.

I picked up my '15 in Fall 2019 for $7000 CAD. It came with SHAD hard bags and the touring windscreen. It had 8500 kms on it at the time. As a few others have mentioned, the market is hot right now due to lack of new inventory. That said, $6500 USD plus dealer fees, etc. seems high. OTOH, it's COVID pricing and if it's what you really want...

This is the bottom line: A bike is worth what one person is willing to pay for it. If options are scarce, and you really, really want one now, then it's a good price. If you can wait until supply resumes, then it's a terrible price.
