I do this laden or otherwise. Not flexible enough to just swing it over from the ground (it's not the kind of inflexibility that stretching can help much). What's been working even better though is to stand kind of behind the left footpegs a bit and kick my right foot up & forward enough to get my right heel over the lowest point of the seat and kind of hop closer on my left foot. My g/f giggles every time, and I'm sure it looks awkward as all get out, but meh. It works for me. Got the idea from watching Ewan MacGregor in one of the Long Way series.

I was going to ask if you kept your touring bags, but I suppose, since the GT comes with city bags, perhaps they're good enough? Congrats on the new ride!

Oh man this would bug me every time I were to see it haha, great idea with the laser. Looks great

When I asked my dealership about that, they said my '15 had the 3rd revision of the cam chain tensioner. I mean, that's good - I'm glad it has it, but...3rd revision? I wonder what the complexity is/was. Anyway, sounds like you're ready to carve up some asphalt You got a deal IMHO. -

Congrats, man. The upright position coupled with that delightful engine make these things a winner, and at a bargain, too. Love that colour -

What happened with MotoTrek? ..not that it matters much, I'm glad to have both YT channels. It just seemed Bret's content was a notch up in production value with MotoTrek. -
Pics or it didn't happen Let's see the new ride when you're able to share! These are great bikes, I've a feeling you're going to love it.

Now THAT is good to know. My dad has been wanting to return to NZ (he visits Aus for ~3 months nearly every year), but knowing Tracers are available sure sweetens the deal for a possible family trip... -
If you don't post your bike under or near a 'YamaWood' sign you can't join this club! j/k of course - let us know what you find

Agree. It's an easy job. Brake fluid, too - not much swearing involved. Great looking bike!

Ahhh I see it now. Man that's some cherry lanscape.

Cool bridge - is that old bridge material at the bottom? Almost looks like remnants of an old bridge or something. Great shots, looks scenic and twisty...canyon carving

After struggling for an hour to get a new vinyl floor (instead of carpet) into a project vehicle, I needed a reprieve. Installed the battery into my FJ and went for a spin; first ride this year. The evening air felt great, but I'm most looking forward to some cones and slow-manoeuvre work down a quiet stretch I know. The biggest thing that jumped out last night was how much better the brakes are after the fluid flush. I've not once felt the rear ABS kick in until last night; felt it twice. Again - need some practice to get used to the new feel. And so begins the season for 2021. -

Crank up your rear shock preload, too. It's a PITA, but can be done. -

There are anecdotes all over of folks riding two-up over speed bumps and such and bottoming out / cracked the pan / oil everywhere / trip coming to a halt. Great thread on that here: Personally I installed the R1 plug: Magnetic Oil Sump Drain Plug fits 2016 Yamaha R1 90340-14019-00 (PSR0206) Will fit 2016 Yamaha R1. Just wipe off this black gunk, replace... ...then used a grinder to remove (most of) the 'guard'. It's just aluminum, so it ground off like butter. In so doing, this changes the lowest point on the bike from the oil plug/guard to the catalytic converter. I'd far rather a scratch on the cat than a cracked oil pan. IIRC, the factory oil plug profile is 13 mm, the guard being a bit more, 14 mm or something. The flush plug is 2 mm. Or, you could replace the entire pan: ...or install a sump guard. I chose the cheapest route for the time being, as I don't ride pillion (she has her own bikes!). -
