Time for some new tires. What to get?
betoney replied to shadowhawk's topic in FJ-09 Tracer 900 General Discussions
Where are you seeing this sale? I just checked the Cycle Gear website and a set of Angel GT is $370 and the Angel St is $230. **EDIT** I just checked RockyMountainATV/MC and they have the Angel ST on sale for $214 plus a $50 rebate per set!! -
What did you do to your FJ-tracer-gt today?

My brother rides a Honda 919 naked and you are correct, at legal speeds the clean wind flow is FANTASTIC. But once you get up anywhere near triple digits, the wind force feels like it is pushing you off the back of the bike. MUST ride in a tuck. -

Could you post some photos of the deflectors from different angles? I believe you might have pioneered a movement. Looks good AND functional? win-win. My brother rides a Honda 919 naked and when we swap bikes on a ride, its amazing how clean and quiet the air is with no screen. The first thing he says when swapping back is "man, its crazy how loud it is WITH a windscreen", he said the same thing about my previous FZ1. -
(drool) ABSOLUTELY beautiful, such classic lines! The color and wheels really set it off.

I think you found the problem right there, 3rd gear around 22 mph the engine is fighting to stay moving. I would expect that riding it like that it would be jerking quite a bit. Too slow in too high of a gear.

Anyone adjusted the handlebars?
betoney replied to FigJam-OhNine's topic in FJ-09 Tracer 900 General Discussions
The stock bars are extremely wide, raising them an inch up as well as an inch further back will pull the cables a fair bit tighter. I bought narrower aftermarket bars and still cut them a bit narrower, I have the Helibars Bar Riser and all of my cables are stock length with no binding. -

It looks like you have the original clutch cable, they are prone to fraying and breaking. Order a revised one, better safe than sorry. -

I use the same one. Very reliable seller and a great product. -

By the time you go to the dealer and wait for them to turn them around for you, you could have done the procedure yourself 20 times. Seriously, it takes a few minutes, you loosen up the base bolts, turn the riser the opposite direction and tighten the bolt. -

Just like the '17 FJ, I LOVE that black and white color scheme. -

@duhs10 The levers are from my previous FZ1, the one totaled when hitting a deer. -

For me, YES. The Pazzo is straight where the oe is curved outward. And of course there are 6 settings for distance to help fit your reach. -

For me, it is 100% feel, it comes from my dirt bike experience. My YZ250 has a short brake lever and I only ever use 1 finger for front braking. On the FJ I use 2 fingers. I cant imagine that anyone would do it for looks, the difference between the standard length clutch and short brake lever is one inch. Zero bling factor there. Have you ever watched a lecture about cornering or braking from Nick Ienatsch? (instructor at Yamaha Champions Riding School) -

I bought the MZS Levers and they work very smoothly and are very good quality. While they did ship the wrong clutch lever, they were very courteous and prompt in fixing the mistake. -

I have been to Hong Kong several times in the past and the amount of counterfeit goods available was staggering. I am neither condemning or condoning it here as I am guilty of buying cheap ebay parts myself. "Usually" they are of very high quality. -
At least here in the US, most places dont even have the new bike yet so there hasn't been any R&D.

I agree on the clutch lever length, I have tried a short clutch lever and while it is doable, I much prefer full length. I currently have a long clutch and short brake levers, another benefit of buying Pazzo's, you can mix and match lever length. -

I agree 100% and to be fair, I contacted the seller, sent him photos of the mis-matched pieces and he is going to send the correct mount piece. Very upstanding seller. -

I have used Pazzo levers for years without issue, I recently bought a set of ebay knock-offs to have a spare set with me in case of an incident while on the road. If you look at the mount section shape and the clutch cable slot, you can see that the Chinese knock-offs aren't even close to being correct. For $25 dont expect perfection. -

I added a few subtle silver accents to add a little contrast and break up the black and red. I also got some silver steel mesh and put it inside the body panel, like a fake air intake. -
If its not pulling away from the sprocket and doesn't have any obvious overly light or loose spots, keep maintaining it and use it for the rest of the season, unless you have high mileage planned for the rest of the season.

Yes, I am extremely happy with the set from Sprocket Center Their sprockets wear like iron. Honestly, I probably could have just ordered a new chain and been fine but I have always ordered as a set on both street and dirt bikes. I may reconsider that mindset in the future.

Continental Road Attack 3 tires
betoney replied to poppop's topic in FJ-09 Parts and Accessory reviews
I picked up a nail in my stock Dunlop's at 4,000 miles and wasn't upset at all by changing them before they were worn out. They weren't terrible but not great by any means. I have read very positive reviews on the Road Attack 3's but have never tried them myself. Honestly, almost any premium tire will be an upgrade from the stock tires, I have used sport as well as sport-touring tires with great results.
