  1. Has anyone installed one of these? - EBay - Rear Mudguard Hugger From the photos, it appears to be maybe 3-4" longer than oem hugger, I'm just curious about quality and any possible alignment issues. For $42 it might be worth a gamble if it offers a little more splash protection for the shock.
  2. I used the same tape, after I applied it I briefly went over the surface with a heat gun. I have already posted this pic. but here is the red bike with silver accents.
  3. The subtle gold accents look really good, I added similar silver accents to my red bike, including the SH36 cases.
  4. I have done the same thing on dirt bikes if the fork leg gets scratched, just rotate it in the clamp until it is out of sight.
  5. That is a sad way to look at motorcycling. I have had custom seats built for my last 2 bikes and very much enjoy 10-11 hours in the saddle while on road trips.
  6. @duhs10 Ebay has a Set of 3 Speed Bleeders for front and rear calipers. L and LL
  7. Even though I have a Motion Pro brake bleeder, I have been thinking about installing these, did you use standard or stainless steel?
  8. I bought my 2015 in December of 2016. 30,000 miles, recreational riding only, no commuting. 50/50 mix of spirited hooligan rides and multi-day road trips. Notable mods are ECU flash and Scorpion slip-on exhaust, MCCruise control, assist/ slipper clutch and full suspension upgrade. Valves checked, spark plugs changed and throttle bodies synced @23,000 miles. The right exhaust valves on each cylinder were tight, spark plugs looked great, throttle bodies needed almost zero adjustment. Oil and filter changed every 3-4,000 miles w/Yamalube semi-synthetic. The only issue I have encountered was poor performing front brakes with very odd wear patterns on the pads, dealer replaced brakes and calipers under warranty.
  9. Your instrument panel flash rate should match your signal flash rate (flash speed, not blinker pattern). If I turn the relay faster or slower, the signals and instrument panel are in sync.
  10. Yes, I used a flasher relay from TST Industries to set the flash rate. I bought the X-Arc for the rear over a year ago and the flash rate was really fast so I bought the relay. I liked the X-Arc signals enough that I decided to use a set on the front as well. They have a 20% off promo going through the end of the year, coupon code CYBER
  11. Today I replaced the 1970's turn signals with smaller LED signals from High Tech Speed I originally wanted to try their Proton LED's but wanted more forward visibility from oncoming traffic, so I bought the X-Arc signals, same ones that I have on the back. VERY bright!! When you remove the oem lights and mounts, you will need 4X Turn Signal Adapter Plates 1 each on the inside and outside of the shroud on each side.
  12. @sterlinggold - is it the camera angle causing an optical illusion or is the screen really that tall? And in the upper most position with a deflector on top, you cant be getting any airflow.
  13. I dont ride at night so have no need to dim them. I dont think they are too bright (at least for daytime running - YMMV), I also run my high beam on all the time as well so both head lights are on all of the time. I lowered the angle of the high beam equal with the low beam so I dont blind oncoming cars.
  14. No, I have an FJ, as I mentioned in a previous post, the only way for you to know for sure is to pull the windscreen, mount bracket and check for yourself. Mine were directly behind the instrument panel.
  15. @texscottyd - Thank you for this. You and I are the same size and sounds like we ride the same way, though I dont have a racing background. My assessment of the stock suspension is similar - "surprisingly adequate" until you pick up the pace. One thing I dont like is "wallowing" through fast sweepers and I couldn't get that dialed out with stock suspension. I went with a Penske 8983 and "Forks by Matt" advanced option, comfortable on the highway while taught and controlled in the canyons. Biggest bang for the buck, hands down.
  16. This is another FJ vs. Tracer situation, the only way to be sure is to check on your bike. If you pull the wind screen and mount bracket off, there should be a few unused plugs right behind the instrument panel, on the FJ there are 3 unused plugs available. These are convenient key-on 12v power leads, ready to use, just plug in your device. This is the front and back of the plug dust cover, the plug itself is a male plug, you will need to splice on a female connector to whatever you connect.
  17. I just installed a hardwire connector for my Garmin GPS and Denali daytime running lights, both had bare wire leads that needed to be connected to an appropriate Yamaha plug. I went to my local Yamaha shop and got some connectors that they had salvaged off a wiring harness (I love my Yamaha shop, they always help me out). The 12v auxiliary plugs behind the screen have a cover on them, bring it with you to the shop and see if they have anything that fits.
  18. I have never heard anything but positive reviews on the Gold Valve's, if you already noticed an improvement with different springs and oil then this should be icing on the cake. I'll bet you are chomping at the bit for a test ride on a nice day to get both ends dialed in.
  19. I might do that one of these nights but tonight its raining. As far as turning them on and off, I didn't wire them to a switch, they are direct wired to the accessory 12v lead behind the screen, it is key-on power. In the .pdf instructions you can wire them a few different ways dependent on your needs.
  20. Today I installed some Denali Daytime Running Lights I ordered from Twisted Throttle during their Black Friday sale. I dont ride at night so I only use these to be seen better in daylight. I attached them to the radiator guard with offset spacers. You have the option of wiring them 50% or 100% intensity or if you want to vary the intensity you can install an inline switch, I chose to wire them in at 100% intensity. They are BRIGHT!! They are very low profile and inconspicuous... ...until they are powered on!
  21. If I remember correctly, 2WDW said that Hindle provided one of the better dyno results on the FJ when they were developing the fuel maps for their flash.
  22. @duhs10 From what I remember, (take that for what it is...) the MA005 was very similar in height to the stock bar but it was narrower and had a more comfortable rearward bend. The stock bars, for me, were way too wide and too straight. No clearance issues with the MA005. Rizoma makes several different bends, as does Renthal (see the measurements at the bottom of the page) When I was shopping for handlebars, I checked out every bar chart and wrote them all down and then narrowed it down to what measurement(s) I needed.
  23. Back at you. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Now I’ll go plug in the battery tender, been meaning to do that... -Skip Yeah, the weather forecast looks pretty crappy for at least the next 2 weeks here, no plans on riding. I just hooked mine up to the tender as well. Enjoy your holiday everyone.
