  1. @DavidS - I am considering doing this as an "off season" project. I have researched this project a bit and know that it is more complex than when I did it on my previous non-ABS bike, which literally took about 30 minutes. One thing I like about the Spiegler Brake Lines is the ability to "adjust" the angle of the banjo mating surface.
  2. There is definitely not as many epic roads as Nor Cal, I mean how do you compete with that? But you will be right on the Oregon border and riding in Oregon is AWESOME!!!
  3. Good job getting the forks sorted. ๐Ÿ‘ Have you already got the shock set up? Where are you headed in Idaho? I just rode through there 2 weeks ago and it was FANTASTIC! Google Maps
  4. @nhchris - It is definitely worth taking a test ride, I considered the Versys 1000 and test rode it a few times (as well as the 650- loved the chassis, hated the engine braking) before deciding on the FJ. The Versys is larger but not unwieldy and is very smooth. While on the test ride all I could think was โ€œThis is so comfortable, I just want to continue on to Californiaโ€.
  5. I also like that you can drop a gear w/o braking (5k or below) and not upset the rear traction. It works awesome in the twisties!!
  6. @dazzler24 Looks good, glad you are pleased with the seat. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
  7. First I have heard of semi-active or electronic suspension not having a manual mode to set damping to your liking. It must be unique to that Aprilia model?
  8. As if a 350cc twin cylinder 2 stroke isnโ€™t enough power... look closely, they added NOS. ๐Ÿ˜ณ.
  9. Indeed they do. I have always ridden 2 strokes! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  10. Even on my dirt bikes I only set chain slack while on a stand, been using that method since I was 7 y/o. I would say to stick with what works for you, the last thing I want to do is sway anyone with my opinion. ๐Ÿ‘
  11. Measuring it on the center stand is the ONLY way that I have ever set chain tension. Page 7-25 of the owners manual, Check drive chain slack. Step 1. Place the motorcycle on the center-stand.
  12. ^^Exactly this^^ - Now that I have developed muscle memory for "____"
  13. To those who own or have ridden other brands, is the stock fueling as harsh and abrupt as Yamaha? I have ridden several models of Kawasaki, Honda and Aprilia and have not experienced anything close to Yamaha's jerky throttle. Since the inception of the CP3, reviews praise the motor but always mention terrible fueling, my previous Gen II FZ1 had terrible fueling as well. Since owning Yamaha I have had to adjusted my riding style with much smoother throttle input that I don't need to use when I ride other brands. Is this unique to Yamaha? Do any other manufacturers have these issues?
  14. No worries, its only $1.40. I appreciate you getting the product listed. ๐Ÿ‘
  15. Crap, I ordered too soon, missed the discount. Oh well...
  16. Any chance of getting that FJ09 design on a coffee mug? Currently I only find one design on the coffee mug.
  17. Dave Moss touched your bike? You know you can never wash your bike again, right? ๐Ÿ˜Ž Seriously, Dave is a suspension guru! What an opportunity to have him wrench on your bike. Several years ago I went to a rally and was fortunate enough to attend a cornering/braking clinic with Nick Ienatsch.
  18. Well, that's no fun. I was just through there last week, from Sun Valley up to Stanley, then into Lowman and then Boise and finally North all the way to Moscow. GREAT riding, the Sawtooth Range is beautiful and HWY21 out of Lowman is a sport riders dream!
  19. The only thing better than riding in the twisties... is riding in the twisties with lots of elevation changes!! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  20. @superfist - Congratulations, beautiful bike! I cant figure it out, every time I take my bike to the shop, I get the same old bike back...???
  21. That might be a little on the tight side. Personally, I would loosen it a bit.
  22. Damn, Scott, that is a LOT of rain. I hope you make it through unscathed.
  23. Where are you getting "revamped specs" of 2.5-3.5" of chain slack? It should be about 1"-1.25" slack.
