  1. Fair enough. Thanks again for the information on the oil.
  2. Betoney, thank you. Your comment is useful. I will send the oil to the lab next change. 2and3 cylinders, I am sorry you disbelieve my comments. I don't really care what you think, but I do value the information I have received on this site.
  3. What I thought was interesting was that they didn't list 15W 50. My manual also says something like "it is not recommended to use oils of a higher quality or rating than what is listed." My oil (when I us mobil 1 -4 stroke full synthetic 10 W 40) seems to go dark faster than I would like. I ride a lot. I am not putting wacky additives in fuel or oil or anything, so I'm not sure why this specific oil goes dark so quick. I like to change my oil sometimes even after 1000 miles if I have been riding a bit aggressive with the mobil 1. The Motul 7100 I also use seems to last a bit longer, but I still change before 2000 miles. My initial question was whether 15 W 50 or 20 W 50 would be better in my 100 degree weather area. But most folks around here still prefer 10 W 40.
  4. Thanks again everyone . Good all around coverage on the subjec. I have used the Mobil 1 4 t myself a lot. And motul 7100 a lot. I wonder if that new motul stuff is any different, I see now that it is not synthetic base. was glad to hear about the 10w 40 being most preferred weight
  5. I care about your personal opnion jthayer, especially after writing what I consider super good information, about the ma2 and synthetic base.
  6. Excellent advice guys! Thanks for all the input. I do ride a lot. A lot. Good to know how other folks feel and also to hear the evidence to support.
  7. Guys, I realize there has likely been discussion on this question...however, my search function does not yield any results. What is the preferred oil for the 2024 Tracer 9 gt Plus? My climate is dry, temps between 70-105 F. The owners manual says 10W-40 or 20W-50. Since it is hot here, I thought 20W-50 might be best but I don't want to forfeit performance...the dealer used 10W40 at break-in service and told me it didn't matter which weight I used. Thoughts?
  8. Draco,

Do you recommend the going to the rear 16/47 sprocket ratio?

Do you notice any disadvantages to doing this?  Do I need to change out my entire final drive (chain and both sprockets) or can I only change the rear with good effect?

I have been happy with it. The main disadvantage is the bike will run at a little higher RPM at speed. I haven't noticed a significant drop in fuel economy, except at long highway runs at 85mph. The extra feeling of torque in lower RPMs is nice.

You can change just the sprocket. The stock chain length is long enough to fit the larger sprocket, but there insn't much room for extra slack on a new chain (I just replaced the chain, and I barely had enough for the proper chain slack). If your chain and sprockets already have lots of miles, check the front sprocket. I am finding those wear faster than the rear.

  10. Got my radiator guard thanks! Fits perfect!
